After a ceremonial turning of the shovels, construction set to begin on new waterfront apartment building, featuring 52 spacious new residences
ST. PETERSBURG, September 24 — The newest neighborhood at Westminster Shores has now broken ground, following Tuesday’s ceremonial turning of the shovels. This new development, Sunrise Point, will feature 52 apartment homes at the waterfront active senior living community in St. Petersburg’s Bahama Shores neighborhood, featuring beautifully appointed amenities and finishes. Sunrise Point at Westminster Shores is 100% reserved.
The addition to Westminster Shores is the latest phase in enhancing the Continuing Care Retirement Community. It signals the ongoing commitment of Westminster Shores to serving senior adults throughout St. Petersburg and Tampa Bay, and to provide excellent choices in living options for today’s older adults. Sunrise Point was designed by Chancey Design Partnership of Tampa, and will be built by Hennessy Construction Services of St. Petersburg. Construction is expected to begin in the coming weeks.
Westminster Shores Executive Director Lin Ferrol offered a warm welcome to the crowd of more than 100 future residents, current residents, Westminster Communities of Florida board members and leadership, and special guests. Ferrol said, "Sunrise Point is just another part of the reinvention and rejuvenation of Westminster Shores. We are delighted to welcome not only new residents, but also new interests and new ideas, to the Westminster Shores family."
"We are very grateful for the good citizenship of our neighbors, the residents of Westminster Shores," said Dr. Kanika Tomalin, Deputy Mayor of the City of St. Petersburg. "This community provides a wonderful place for older adults to live and to continue to be active. We are so grateful that Westminster Shores leads."
Roger Stevens, Chief Executive Officer of Westminster Communities of Florida, welcomed the future residents and discussed the history of the organization and its Mission. "Today, we’re embarking on the fourth phase of the reinvention of Westminster Shores, with Sunrise Point. Welcome, and congratulations!" said Stevens.
